The active ingredient, Timolol Maleate 0.5% w/v, is a non-selective beta-blocker that reduces pressure in the eye by decreasing the production of aqueous humor.
Composition
- Active Ingredient: Timolol Maleate 0.5% w/v
- Inactive Ingredients: Benzalkonium chloride (as a preservative), sodium phosphate, and purified water.
Usage
- Indication: Timolex Eye Drops is indicated for the treatment of elevated intraocular pressure in:
- Open-angle glaucoma
- Ocular hypertension
- Mechanism of Action: Timolol Maleate lowers intraocular pressure by reducing the secretion of aqueous humor in the eyes
Dosage
Typical Dosage:
- Instill 1 drop in the affected eye(s) twice daily, or as directed by your healthcare provider.
Instructions for Use:
- Wash your hands before use.
- Tilt your head back slightly, pull down the lower eyelid to create a small pocket, and apply the drop.
- Avoid touching the dropper tip to any surface, including the eye, to prevent contamination.
- Close your eye gently and press your finger against the corner of your eye (near the nose) for 1-2 minutes to prevent the medication from draining out.
Missed Dose: Apply as soon as remembered. If it’s close to the next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double doses.
